This is an additional fire to the other one that started near work yesterday. This one is right near home, with the edge of the voluntary evacuation zone being only a dozen blocks or so from home. There’s a lot of concrete and buildings in between here and there so I’m safe from the flames. But certainly smoke will be an issue depending on the wind directions. Either way, I’m not going to work today because the other fire in Ventura County has shut down the base and I have off for the day. So just like a snow day back east, I have a fire day here in LA.

I’m driving down to Santa Monica today. Hope there’s no smoke blowing that way!

It will definitely blot out the sunset and you will see the smoke coming over the mountains but for the most part I'd imagine it would be clear enough down there

I hate snow so much, but I’d
... yeah probably rather a snow day than fire day. Snow melts, ash doesn’t re-constitute.

Well nobody has been injured or died yet in this fire so it’s not really in poor taste! It’s really bad though for anyone who might have been affected by both the shooting in TO and the fires now.

Yeah I'm hoping work is still there when this is all over. Lots of water around there at least so they should be alright. My commute is gonna be hell though, especially if any rain rolls through in the near future and the subsequent mudslides wreak havoc in the canyons.
